Illustration Sketchbooks - Exercise 2.3: Blind contour drawing

I remembered that I did some blind contour drawing as part of a course I did a few years ago at City Lit in London:

Going back to that work, I was put at ease as to what I was meant to do, and what I could probably expect as a result! I tried to draw from life as much as I could, accepting that my family might move and going with it anyway. Only the first few did I peak a bit, the others were completely blind. I even did a few whilst waiting in the doctor's surgery for a blood test!

I am quite pleased with these, they have interesting energy and by-and-large you can still tell what they are! I love the way that you can get some really weird and humorous results when doing blind contour drawing. My wife actually really liked the drawing of her (which was a particularly weird angle to draw). I think doing this would be a good warm-up activity at the start of a drawing session to get your brain and hand thinking together.
