Reflections on Trees

I've noticed something of late: I seem to be preoccupied with trees.

I needed to get out of the house the other day, and took a drive to the local sustainability centre to get some air. I took my small sketchbook with me so that I could try and get some quick sketches in as part of my research for section 2.

They are doing some wonderful work at the centre in cultivating sustainable woodland practices and encouraging traditional techniques like coppicing. As I had been feeling quite overwhelmed I took the opportunity to do a bit of 'forest-bathing'. I loved being among and under the trees, and to see such variety. I took photos and sketches of a tree.

I have been doing the Inktober drawing challenge again this year. I have found myself wanting to draw trees and forests. Looking back on photos I have taken I have regular stopped to photograph the surface and texture of trees. It's interesting to stop and actually notice, what I am noticing!

As such I think that I should be exploring this avenue more, but not sure how best to go about it, I think I might need to see what my tutor thinks and go from there.
